Hello there, I'm Sara Abdulrahman, a multidisciplinary artist and creative behind SAD Studios, LLC, an art and illustration studio based in the Washington metropolitan area. I believe in creating to connect meaningfully and cultivate relatedness: to connect with the full range of our complex feelings, to explore and relate to our personal and collective unconscious, to connect with the pressing issues of our time, and, most importantly, to connect with one another. My BA in Graphic Design combined with an MS in Integrated Marketing Communications from Northwestern University granted me the skill of merging audience insights with creativity and led to a decade-long career wearing multiple hats as a communications specialist and creative manager working with educational and cultural exchange-focused foundations and nonprofits. I am passionate about supporting social impact projects and companies tackling global challenges and bringing communities together to demystify the "other." In my last role, I served as Programs Director for a nonprofit institute focused on creative and cultural exchange between the US and the Middle East. In addition to the day-to-day management and administrative duties, I curated and implemented in-person and digital bespoke programs and exhibitions, developed editorial and research initiatives, and oversaw sponsorships and program partnerships. Currently, when I am not creating for SAD, I am a Ph.D. student studying Depth Psychology and Archetypal Studies while freelancing part-time for aligned organizations. Get in touch if you'd like to discuss working together!
